About me

I am a current fifth-year graduate student at The Ohio State University working towards my Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences.  I work in the lab of Dr. Jacob Yount investigating the underlying cause of birth defects associated with viral infections during pregnancy. While my research (and this blog) are concentrated within the fields of Microbiology and Immunology, I am also very passionate about other areas of science like conservation, climate change and cancer biology.  Outside of science, I enjoy hiking and running with my dog, baking and trying to catch up on sleep.

Excitingly, this blog serves as a chance for me to not only practice my science writing and reporting skills, but also to ideally teach people more about current research and the questions still plaguing scientists.
